Coming in hot is the information that the Federal Government has bowed to the cry of Npower candidates of the batches A and B of the year 2016 and 2018.
The Federal Government made an announcement that it has commenced the payment of arrears of stipends for the batches A and B already.
This followed by the news of the planned 10,000 massive protests that is to come 20th September 2021, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development in Abuja made the announcement known to the public on Friday.
Npower: FG Starts Payment of Batch A/B Stipend Arrears
The ministry made it known that the batch payments will include the account of 14,021 volunteers that were flagged in March 2021 by the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) for some reasons such as beneficiaries having multiple bank accounts that receives salaries and allowances from multiple Federal Government department, ministries, agencies while on permanent employment.
The ministry made it clear that the act of receiving multiple payments is in violation of the Npower guidelines, this leading to proper investigation and scrutiny to root out the evil ones.
After the proper investigation has been carried out, the ministry was able to come up with the accounts of 9,066 volunteers who were cleared to receive final payment.
The Ministry stated:
Based on this reality, the five months allowance arrears of these volunteers, totalling N150,000 each is currently being paid. They have started receiving credit alerts today.
“The allowances of the remaining 4,955 is withheld pending conclusion of further investigation. Where clear violations of the agreements are established, such violators will be subjected to appropriate sanctions as stipulated by the law.
“Contrary to some insinuations in the public domain, this process is a clear demonstration of the ministry’s resolve to address this unfortunate incidence in a transparent manner for accountability and to forestall its future occurrence.
“As it has consistently maintained, the investigation carried out by the ministry is in the best interest of the country and has the major goal of institutionalising the National Social Investment Programme,”
This is good news for volunteers who have not in anyway violated the guidelines as they are bound to start getting alerts of the payment.
The disbursement continues so people who haven’t received their payment alert yet should not panic and wait for theirs.
